Celebrating with a Styled Shoot

We are so excited to finally share the Glam Peacock Masquerade Styled Shoot on our blog! This has been one of our favorite shoots to date with it’s a perfect combination of our love for vintage and modern styles. The glamorous shoot took place at the historic DIME Building as part of a celebration of the one year anniversary of the Detroit Rising Tide Society. We had a blast working with all the ladies and were honored to be included in the shoot.

Design Inspiration

The inspiration for this styled shoot all began when Lynsey stumbled upon a set of gorgeous turquoise and gold peacock plates at a local store. The design concept was expanded after a visit to our favorite linen shop, Special Occasions East. They have so many beautiful options, narrowing it down was not an easy choice! In the end, we decided on a gorgeous metallic coral linen with teal napkins and turquoise chair sashes. To give the shoot a more glamorous feel, we added lots of gold accessories and details. Some of our favorite decor accessories included the crystal cake stands, vintage gold silverware, and mirrored side table.

Sweets and Treats

One of the highlights of this glamorous styled shoot was the amazing dessert table, with desserts from Bella e Dolce Cakes! Erin made a custom cake that included a masquerade cake topper, gold lace accents and vertical pearl appliques. She also created mini-tarts, cake truffles and macarons that were included on the dessert table. Gummy bears and chocolates were also included on the mirrored gold table to create a mini sweets display.

It’s All in the Details

We had a blast participating in this shoot. Some of our favorite details also included the stunning invitations and paper goods by Invitations by Caitlin. We also loved the gift box that Linda from Ask Your Bridesmaids so graciously sent us.

Blush and Gold Vintage Inspired Styled Shoot

We are so excited to share the photos from our vintage inspired styled shoot! Back in June we had the opportunity to participate in a styled shoot challenge through the Rising Tide Society. The Rising Tide challenge was a great experience and inspired us to organize our own styled shoot. After some brainstorming, the idea eventually evolved into a branding shoot for Pixie Dust Events.

Finding our Photographer

The first step was finding a photographer to work with and we really hit the jackpot! In a google search for  “vintage photographer” we found Elise at Mod Bettie. After our consultation with Elise we knew we had found a perfect fit. Her warm personality, ability to understand our brand and amazing vintage studio was exactly what we had been searching for.

Searching for Inspiration

The second step was finding our vision. While searching for ideas, I remembered a Cinderella themed styled shoot I came across while planning my wedding back in 2012. We loved the vintage plates, gold chargers and beautiful florals they used to highlight Cinderella’s french origin.

Lucky for us, we found some great pink and gold vintage plates and gold vases at Home Goods. We also used gold dipped vases from Etsy and clear candy jars decorated with ribbon, feathers and brooches to add some modern touches to the shoot.

Shoot Day

Despite only getting four hours of sleep the night before the shoot, everything went according to plan. We arrived on location early to find Elise ready to assist us with unloading and decor setup. Shortly after, our makeup artist and hair dresser Jennifer Bartlett arrived. Jennifer did her magic and made us look beautiful (thank goodness for concealer!). The day went by in a flash, and before we knew it the shoot was over. We are thankful that we got to work with so many amazing vendors and look forward to working on future projects.

Real Wedding: Lenny & Shannon

We were lucky enough to work with Lenny and Shannon on their special day a few weeks ago. We assisted with coordination and created one of our custom dessert tables. Lenny was a fun, creative bride that loved mixing modern and traditional styles – something we specialize in. We loved the fact that Lenny created many of the pieces that we used for her wedding, giving her wedding a unique custom feel.

Is an Event Planner Right for You?

Event Planner Right for You-01Often, it’s not until you are in the middle of your event that you realize the true value of hiring a professional event planner. Anyone who has planned a wedding or special event knows how much time and effort goes into them. Event planners take the guess work out of planning. They know what vendors to book, keep your budget on tract and make sure everything goes to plan on the big day.

Not sure if you need a planner? Consider the following before you make your decision:

1. Wedding Tasks Can be Time Consuming and Detailed.
Some wedding tasks like cake tasting and dress shopping can be fun! But things such as researching vendors, keeping tract of payments and creating an event timeline can be challenging when you are juggling so many things at once. Managing wedding tasks is something event planners do everyday, and is something they would be happy to assist you with.

2. Use Your Budget in the Best Way.
Your event planner can help you determine what details are important to you. They can also give you guidance on how much money should be spent in each category and which vendors will be the best fit for you. In addition, planners have relationships with vendors that others outside of the industry will not have. This can lead to discounts and savings that can be passed on to you!

3. Help You Visualize Your Event
With so many resources available it is easy to get overwhelmed. By hiring a planner they can keep you from getting distracted. Event planners help create a vision for your event and provide guidance so the event becomes reflection of you.

4. Manage Your Family, Guests and Bridal Party.
Are you worried about staying on schedule during your event? Or maybe you have difficult family dynamics to deal with. Event planners handle not only your questions, but anyone else’s. They can also keep family members and the wedding party calm if any issues arise.

5. Handle Any Crisis That May Come Up
No matter how much you plan problems can still happen. Event planners have the experience that is needed when dealing with problems. When you hire a planner they take the responsibility of fixing problems, so you don’t have to. Special Events only happen once, you should be able to relax and enjoy your day!

A big thank you for the photos from Field Gems Photography! Elisha did an amazing job and was a pleasure to work with. She gave us a few highlights to share on our blog this week.

When Sumer came to us in February she had already tackled many things on her to do list, she just needed help pulling all the pieces together. With many guests coming from out of the country and other states she really wanted to impress her family and friends. We assisted Sumer with invitation design, vendor selection, event appointments, day of management and event decor.

We wish Sumer and Hasan the best and hope they have an amazing engagement now that they are officially engaged! Congratulations!
