Great Gatsby Anniversary Party at the Grand Ledge Opera House

A Milestone Anniversary

Back in October we had the opportunity to help Mattie and Jimmie celebrate their 50th anniversary. It was a pleasure to work with the Brown Family again. We are always honored when a client chooses us to help them celebrate an event as special as an anniversary. The classic Great Gatsby theme was perfect for this event!

Creating the Great Gatsby Theme

The Grand Ledge Opera House was the perfect location for this event. The tall ceilings and beautiful balcony provided the perfect backdrop for this Great Gatsby themed anniversary party. To transform the Opera House into an elegant ballroom we used tall white feather centerpieces, dramatic black linens and gold chiavari chairs. Patterned gold vintage chargers decorated the tables and featured custom sugar cookie favors on each place setting.

The art deco cake by Bella e Dolce made for a stunning focal point in the center of the ballroom. The cake design perfectly captured the Great Gatsby theme with geometric shapes, pearls, feathers and fringe. We also added some bling to a fringe skirt and used a black sequin linen to really set off the table.

Blush and Gold Vintage Inspired Styled Shoot

We are so excited to share the photos from our vintage inspired styled shoot! Back in June we had the opportunity to participate in a styled shoot challenge through the Rising Tide Society. The Rising Tide challenge was a great experience and inspired us to organize our own styled shoot. After some brainstorming, the idea eventually evolved into a branding shoot for Pixie Dust Events.

Finding our Photographer

The first step was finding a photographer to work with and we really hit the jackpot! In a google search for  “vintage photographer” we found Elise at Mod Bettie. After our consultation with Elise we knew we had found a perfect fit. Her warm personality, ability to understand our brand and amazing vintage studio was exactly what we had been searching for.

Searching for Inspiration

The second step was finding our vision. While searching for ideas, I remembered a Cinderella themed styled shoot I came across while planning my wedding back in 2012. We loved the vintage plates, gold chargers and beautiful florals they used to highlight Cinderella’s french origin.

Lucky for us, we found some great pink and gold vintage plates and gold vases at Home Goods. We also used gold dipped vases from Etsy and clear candy jars decorated with ribbon, feathers and brooches to add some modern touches to the shoot.

Shoot Day

Despite only getting four hours of sleep the night before the shoot, everything went according to plan. We arrived on location early to find Elise ready to assist us with unloading and decor setup. Shortly after, our makeup artist and hair dresser Jennifer Bartlett arrived. Jennifer did her magic and made us look beautiful (thank goodness for concealer!). The day went by in a flash, and before we knew it the shoot was over. We are thankful that we got to work with so many amazing vendors and look forward to working on future projects.

A big thank you for the photos from Field Gems Photography! Elisha did an amazing job and was a pleasure to work with. She gave us a few highlights to share on our blog this week.

When Sumer came to us in February she had already tackled many things on her to do list, she just needed help pulling all the pieces together. With many guests coming from out of the country and other states she really wanted to impress her family and friends. We assisted Sumer with invitation design, vendor selection, event appointments, day of management and event decor.

We wish Sumer and Hasan the best and hope they have an amazing engagement now that they are officially engaged! Congratulations!

We were so thrilled to work with Lynne and Aliya on this project! Our designer Lynsey loves Kate Spade and since Aliya was turning 14 we thought a more grown up look was appropriate, but still fun! Pops of pink and gold in the invitation design got the event off on the right foot.

For the dessert table we went a unique route. Lynne decided to do this fun sundae bar because her family prefers ice cream to cake. A few of our favorite treats were the chocolate covered oreos, sprinkle covered ice cream cones and the gummy bears we found at Horrocks.

25th Anniversary-72

With vintage touches and a gold and plum color palette we designed a surprise 25th anniversary party for one of our own. Tom came to us in early May wanting to plan a surprise anniversary party for his wife Lee. We were of course thrilled to work on this event.

We went to one of our favorite venues in Lansing, the Rosewood Inn. We also created a dessert table that featured a cake by Bella e Dolce. Other fun activities included a photobooth and games with prizes for the winners.

Congratulations Tom and Lee on 25 happy years!
